PRESS RELEASE

An exhibition at the recently opened Craze Gallery in the heart of Notting Hill showcasing the work of five London based artists. Each exhibiting work that combines elements of glass and metal to produce new forms and images inspired by both materials and perception.

Sylvain Deleu is a photographer whose work has been influenced by architecture and the industrial landscape. On a recent trip to Poland he discovered the Gdansk Shipyard. He found inspiration in the old crumbling metal structures and bunkers, and creates large scale photographs. His work is collected worldwide and he is currently exhibiting at the BMW museum in Stuttgart in Germany.

Suresh Dutt is a visual artist working predominantly in glass. His work explores geometric and optical effects to define structure and perspective. Previous exhibitions include Sotheby’s and the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, Museo de Arte en Vidrio de Alcorcon in Madrid, Axis Gallery in Tokyo and Manchester Art Gallery in Manchester. In 2005 he was awarded the Arts Council England ‘Artists International Fellowship in association with Visiting Arts and the British Council to the Academy of Art, Architecture & Design Prague.

Anthony Harris has worked with glass for the past 15yrs and developed an in-depth knowledge of the material. His work interprets traditional forms in an unfamiliar material, casting decorative and figurative glass objects for the interior. For this exhibition he has created three dimensional ‘pictures’ that are illustrated using the “verre egliomise” process to gild the images.

Liam Reeves’ work is an exploration of Material, Technique and Form. He achieved the status of Master-Glassmaker by the age of 26 and glassblower at the Royal College of Art by the age of 28. His command of the material is renowned throughout the art world and he is constantly called upon by artists and designers to realise their concepts in glass. He combines traditional North-European and Italian glassblowing techniques, bringing the two together to pioneer a style that is
unique.

Richard Watkins is a sculptor who works in steel. He has developed a strong language of abstract geometric shapes and forms evident in these new works. He has worked on many public art projects and was Artist in residence at The Armstrong–Prior print studio, AZ, USA in 2005/6. His next two exhibitions will be held at The Strand Gallery, Aldebrugh and at The Quest Gallery, Bath.
